You Are Life’s Joyful Alternative

There are countless ways to look at the lovely role of offering the best products and services. I believe one of my favorites is becoming a brand or professional that provides clients with joyful alternatives to the rough edges of life.

Adult life can be quite rough. As a kid, I recall asking my mother why it seemed adults were always frowning. I used to watch grownups returning from work at the end of the day, and it seemed everyone was wearing a scowl.

Later, I learned why. There are the typical stressors like the daily effort in your work. It can be the significance of the task. Stress can come from having deadlines. It can also come from working with people who have different priorities and personalities. Then there are the many nuisances. Things like noises you don’t want to hear, traffic you don’t want to be in, and rudeness in your interactions. Perhaps the biggest stress for many people is financial. Will income exceed expenses? Can financial commitments be handled in a timely manner?

Modern life, now with our advanced devices and not-so-advanced debates, have added new stressors. There’s those steady stream of messages and content which have exploded. Notifications are not always uplifting. There’s bad news and tragedy, as well as the invented crisis. You don’t want to go too deep into the news, or spend too much time tracking politics, for example. It is likely to add unnecessary stress to your day.

When a client comes into your world, it is important to be aware of all of this. They are looking for something and someone to help them forget about aspects of life and perhaps their work that may not feel good. Whether through their interaction with you, or the luxury products and services you provide, they are looking for joy, even if they do not say it.

Providing your clients with joy is not as complicated as it might seem, but it must be a commitment. A pleasant and attractive environment, warm and smiling faces, and imaginative offerings is the formula. Hearing your voice should be a signal that there’s greater good in their lives than bad. I teach my clients and members that their role is to inspire the client, and I provide guidance on the many ways you can accomplish this.

Consider who you are and what you offer, to be a joyful alternative to what is often not so joyful in your client’s world. Design the experience. Write the script. Stage the moment, like you are writing a Broadway show. It is a worthy way to spend your time, contemplating how you will carry this idea forward. Your client will thank you for making, at least the time they spend with you, a heartwarming hit.
